Everything you need to know about the National Science Olympiad

 Every year, the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) hosts the National Science Olympiad. This exam is designed to assess students' scientific skills outside of the classroom. It is offered to students in grades 1 to 12.

 

The National Science Olympiad, or NSO, is a competition that focuses on science subjects. This exam is conducted in two phases vizLevel 1 and Level 2. Level 1 is for students in grades 1 through 12, while Level 2 is for students in grades 3 through 12. Only those who pass level 1 will be allowed to take level 2.




Exam Dates: This year exam to be held on 3 dates as mentioned below, but these dates are tentative and completely depend on the Covid 19 situation: 25 Nov, 7 Dec, & 14 Dec of 2021

 

Examination Pattern: The exam is complete of Objective type that means it only consists of Multiple Choice Questions with a total of 35 questions for classes 1 to 4 and 60 questions for classes 5 to 12. NSO exam might occur in online or offline mode. This is to be decided by School. There is no negative marking.

 

Wise Preparation for the exam:  Preparation is the key to success for any exam. Similarly one should dedicate their time well while preparing for NSO. Complete your school curriculum then you may adhere to the books designed by MTG, an academic partner of SOF. The study material is designed in keeping in mind the latest syllabus and covers the niche area from CBSE/ ICSE and state boards.

 

One may refer to Olympiad Workbooks for best results and practice through NSO previous years papers. Online preparatory material is also available.

 

Result and Awards: The result of the NSO may come in around 45 days after the last exam. As far as awards are concerned SOF provides merit certificates as well as participation certificates, Cash prizes are also offered along with medals.
