What are the Derivations in Class 12 Physics in the CBSE Board?

Class 12 CBSE Board Exams are approaching. Now, it’s the time to revise the entire syllabus. If you are revising for Physics, then you must not forget to cover the important derivations that are being continuously asked in the previous years’ Physics papers. The important derivations (expressions) which are frequently asked in the CBSE 12th Physics board exam are listed below.
                                  Derivations-in-Class-12-Physics

  • Expression for the electric field due to an electric dipole at a point on (i) axial line (ii) equatorial line.
  • Expression for torque acting on a dipole placed in a uniform electric field.
  • Gauss’s law in electrostatics and applications to determine electric field using Gauss’s law of (i) Infinite long uniform charged wire (ii) Infinite plane charged sheet (iii) Spherical charged shell (iv) Charged solid sphere.
  • Relation between electric field and electric potential.
  • Expression for the capacitance of parallel plate capacitance containing (i) dielectric slab (ii) conducting slab.
  • Energy of parallel plate capacitor.
  • Expression for drift velocity and relation between current and drift velocity.
  • Proof of Kirchhoff’s rule for current and voltage.
  • Proof of Wheatstone bridge principle.
  • Application of Biot Savart’s law to determine magnetic field of (i) Infinite long straight wire carrying current (ii) At centre of current carrying loop.
  • Force between two parallel current carrying wires.
  • The cyclotron.
  • Moving coil galvanometer.
  • Self-inductance of solenoid.
  • Expression for ‘mutual inductance’ between the two coils.
  • The AC generator and the transformer.
  • The displacement current.
  • Total internal reflection.
  • The mirror formula.
  • The lens formula and the lens maker’s formula.
  • Expression to determine magnifying power of (i) simple microscope (ii) Compound microscope (iii) Astronomical telescope.
  • Diffraction by single slit experiment.
  • Young’s double slit experiment to determine constructive and destructive interference.
  • The Brewster’s angle (proof by polarisation by reflection).
  • Einstein photoelectric equation.
  • Bohr’s model to determine (i) total energy of revolving electron (ii) speed of electron in nth orbit (iii) radius of nth orbit at the electron in hydrogen atom.
  • The Rydberg’s formula.
  • The binding energy per Nucleon with curve.
  • Diode as (i) Halt wave rectifier (ii) full wave rectifier.
  • Transistor as amplifier.
  • Amplitude modulation and demodulation
  • Range of TV transmission.
Revise these derivations properly if you want to score good in your board Physics paper. Apart from these, you should practice Previous Year’s papers and solve numerous physics sample paper class 12 cbse with solution for an effective revision for class 12 board Physics paper. You may also like to read articles on how to score high in CBSE class 12 Physics paper to plan your study schedule for the upcoming exam. Also solve all the NCERT Textbook and exemplar problems as most of these questions are either directly asked or similar types in the boards.
I hope your query is resolved. Since very less time is remaining, start your revision now and excel in the upcoming boards. Wishing you good luck for the exams.
All the Best!
